Welcome to The Barn on Sunrise

Escape to The Barn on Sunrise!

A tranquil retreat just 54 km west of Emerald in Central Queensland.

Our little gem is perfectly located to explore the Sapphire Gemfields and local fossicking, and provides a central location to explore the local area.

This charming, newly renovated barn conversion is separate to our main house and is fully self contained, private and peaceful. It sleeps 2 offering a queen size bed, modern kitchenette, private bathroom, air-conditioning, smart TV with Netflix, Wi-Fi, serene deck, private garden and undercover parking.

The bathroom has a modern shower, toilet and basin with a classic feel.

Guests have access to the initial space around the barn, such as the deck and their secluded sitting areas, and are welcome to walk up to the fruit trees and help themselves to fresh fruit from the mandarine and orange trees when in fruit.

The kitchenette is equipped with microwave,  electric frypan, fridge with small freezer and all facilities for preparing your own meals. However there are plenty of fine cafes and eating establishments locally to enjoy.

When designing The Barn, we carefully chose colour schemes, furniture and bedding to create a luxurious setting where you can relax and feel comfortable. It's rustic theme outside is complimented inside, but with a modern twist to add to your delight.

A little bit about The Gemfields

The Gemfields is made up of the 4 townships of Anakie, Sapphire, Rubyvale and The Willows and are famously known for sapphire mining. People come from all over to either mine their own or buy from the local sapphire shops and dealers.  The Sapphires here are known for their quality.

The Gemfields also has one of the largest areas of common land in Australia. It is home to a myriad of flora and fauna. Cattle, horses, camels, kangaroos, wallabies and potteroos can be seen traversing the landscape, which is beautiful and rugged. There are many fantastic walks to be had along the many trails we have here, which are also ideal for mountain biking. There are several places to see the amazing landscape from too, such as Mount Bullock and Policeman's Knob which are raised points that really set off the landscape.

Sunsets on the Gemfields are truely magical and due to low light pollution,  star gazing is a must.

The Wetlands is a local secluded nature reserve known for its wildlife, and has a 3km circular walking / cycling track traversing it. Following heavy rains the flood plain comes to life with frogs, butterflies, fairy shrimp and so many other species of insects. It is ideal for casual afternoon walks or a morning jog! It offers such a serene, peaceful journey even when dry.

This isn't city living (thankfully!), but we have some really good eating establishments, where meals can be had all day. The New Royal Hotel in Rubyvale is a short drive away and offers excellent food and great beer. They have a courtesy bus often available for pick-up and drop-off. Pat's in Sapphire have a varied menu and also sell alcohol, and Miner's Heritage in Rubyvale have a lovely cafe to spoil you. The Blue Gem in Sapphire also do all day take away food.

Other services of note available locally are fuel, a pharmacy, medical centre and ambo, post office and The Rubyvale Friendly Grocer is an amazing mini supermarket for all your needs.
